At the time of writing, Manchester and around half of the North West region are now on a high alert status. Despite indications early last week that the infection rate was falling across the North West, leading many (including us) to hope that local restrictions would be lifted, the infection rate has increased in most areas, and has soared in others, such as Bolton. This means that for the time being, local lockdown restrictions remain in place, and that in certain areas such as Bolton and Oldham, the restrictions are more strict than they were previously.

Bolton, Oldham, Salford, Tameside and Manchester are now all on the highest level of alert, a status that is imposed by the government when the infection rate goes above 50 per 100,000.
